A bottle of Champagne and a bottle of red wine on a table, corks pulled

Have aged bottles you are not going to open? We buy them outright.

One written, fixed offer, paid in full before we list anything. Title passes to VINS when we pay. We do not sell wine for anyone else.

Paid up front

We pay in full when we buy. You never wait for a sale.

One fixed offer

How it works

1. Email your list

Producer, wine, vintage, size, number of bottles, and the ZIP code where it is kept. Subject: “Private collection inquiry.” Please do not send any bottles.

2. We review it

If bottles fit, we ask for photos of the label, fill level, and capsule.

3. We inspect and make an offer

We examine the bottles in California, then make one written, fixed offer. No prices or estimates before inspection.

4. We buy

You sign a purchase agreement and a declaration, under penalty of perjury, that you bought the wine yourself at retail. We pay from a VINS bank account by a traceable method, never cash. Each bottle gets a permanently affixed label stating that the wine was acquired from a private collection, as California law requires.

What we buy

- Wine only, up to 24% alcohol. No spirits, beer, cider, or sake.

- White, rosé, and sparkling: at least 5 years past the vintage (2020 or earlier). Red: at least 10 years (2015 or earlier).

- Sweet and fortified wines follow their color; fortified wine without a vintage does not qualify. Non-vintage sparkling needs a documented disgorgement or bottling date at least 5 years back. Large formats follow the same rules.

Who can sell

- You are 21 or older and a private individual — not a licensee, business, restaurant, or reseller.

- You own the wine and bought it yourself, at retail, for your own use: from a store, a winery, or a winery mailing list. Not inherited, received as a gift, or bought from another person.

- The wine is in California.

Meeting these rules makes a bottle eligible for review, not a guaranteed purchase. We may decline any bottle. We never hold a bottle we have not bought.

We use what you send only to review your wine and to keep the purchase records the law requires. If we buy, we record your address and date of birth and check a government ID; we note its type and last four digits and do not keep a copy. We keep purchase records for four years after the wine is sold. If we do not buy, we delete your photos within 30 days of our reply. We do not add you to a mailing list. Privacy Policy.
